Designing My 2021: Blog, business, and life goals

Hi friends, 2020 was one heck of a year and I cannot believe 2021 is here.

At some points 2020 felt forever, and yet there were moments that just flew by.

This year has been a huge year for me (who am I kidding, for all of us). The pandemic has completely turned the world inside out and upside down, and we are left with a choice to return to where we came from or forge a new path forward.

I choose the latter.

Hello, 2021! For the life of me, I cannot remember what’s in my left hand.

My closest and dearest will attest to this – I’m not one to romanticise or make an occasion out of the clocking of a new year. In fact, being of Chinese heritage makes my ancestry’s new year sometime in February next year. So really, I have some time (jokes).

Anyway, in the spirit of forging new paths forward I’ve chosen to throw away my previous “normal” and create a new one.

In the last 2 weeks of 2020, I received some pretty big news that set me on a path of focusing on my future, and gave me the energy (and kick up the butt) I needed to reassess my present and future.

And so, as the world around me went into frenzied Christmas/ Boxing Day/ NYE shopping, I spent it reflecting, journaling, and visioning what 2021 would feel like for me.

I focused on how I wanted to feel to let that guide me to what I needed to do. I channeled all my energy into working on my goals for 2021 and the next 5 and 10 years of my life.

Which I will share here, with you.

Because we all know it isn’t real until it is on the internet

So here goes.

If you’re reading this,I’d love to hear from you and your goals for 2021.

Blog and Business Goals

Start my online marketing business. If you’re here reading this – then well, here it is! I’ve toyed with this idea on and off for years, and for the life of me cannot remember the reasons why I always chose not to invest in myself. Well, 2021 – I’m here, and doing it. I want to work with small business owners, entrepreneurs, home-based bloggers, creators. If this is you, and you’re looking for some help with online marketing, do get it touch! I offer a free, 20-minutes, non-obligatory online consultation/ chat. If we vibe well and you believe I can help you and your business, I’d love to do that.

Increase my email subscriber list. See how the above goal led to this? I hope you signed up! I’ve got a really lofty goal to grow my subscriber list to 10,000 this year.

Launch my upcoming eCourse. This one really excites me – to launch my upcoming eCourse and have at least 80 sign-ups. A lofty goal but not impossible 🙂 If you’re interested to find out more about my upcoming eCourse, sign up to stay in touch! The eCourse will be centered around developing online marketing skills for you to start your own online business.

Hi, there!

Grow my barre classes. Yes, I’m also a barre instructor and I love it! I only started teaching in November 2020 and would love to grow my classes to teach at least 3 times a week. Barre is such a great, fun way to get moving and build strength. It’s such a well-rounded fitness exercise, plus it is low-impact making it perfect for anyone. Check out The Feel Good Space for more information 🙂

Life Goals

My 2021 life goals are centered around self-care and self-development.

Simplify my finances. Hands up if you love a good Marie Kondo opportunity. I think I do okay in this space already but there is definitely room for a little more tidy up. Simplifying and maintaining tidy finances takes ongoing work. What I’ve learnt over the years is that when it comes to finances, it’s always, always better to be in touch with it every week (or month) than to wait for a reason to do so. So, I relooked at my bank accounts and restructured them in ways that made more sense. I had started the Barefoot Investor approach several years ago and that really had set me up with a solid foundation and understanding. This year, I’ve tweaked it in ways that still honours the Barefoot structure but that works for my family and I too.

Read 10 non-fiction books. I read 33 books in 2020 and am super proud of myself. All 33 books were crime fiction. Some incredibly disturbing but highly engaging. I love them all. Although, after book 25 every story seemed to become one big never ending story. This year, I will read at least 10 non-fiction books. In fact, I already finished one (though the updated version of the Barefoot Investor surely shouldn’t count).

Go camping. Can’t say I don’t enjoy it until I try it, right? Flinders Ranges, here I come.

Travel Australia. Having lived here for 10 years, I can’t say I’ve seen much of the country. It’s never too late though. I’m looking to visit the Northern Territory for the first time this year and I’m really looking forward to it! I can’t wait to see and touch the red earth, be humbled by the ancient wisdom of the land in Uluru, and have yum cha in Chinatown, Darwin.

Journal everyday. I’m rediscovering a lost habit and I’ve fallen in love with it again. I marked this goal on the night of the Winter (or Summer) Solstice. Journaling helps me with my thought process and really guides me through my moments of haziness. So far, so good!

What will you achieve in 2021?
